The Poland stock exchange started earlier than
most would imagine, 1817. Before World War II, Poland consisted of seven
stock exchanges with Warsaw making up close to 90% of the trading volume.
However, due to World War II trading on the exchange came to an abrupt halt.
Decades later the Warsaw Stock Exchange reopened in April of 1991 and became a
member of the International Federation of Stock
Exchanges (FIBV) in 1994.
The WSE trades listed companies, treasury
bonds, corporate bonds, futures contracts and warrants.
